Brandy, affectionately known as "Nana" by her grandkids, is a proud mom of two wonderful sons, their lovely wives, a beautiful daughter, and a supportive husband. She’s the creative force behind The Calico Bunny. For years, Brandy has dedicated herself to arts and crafts, transforming everyday moments into cherished family memories. In summer 2026, she took a leap of faith and turned her passion into a business. Each piece is hand-poured by Brandy, crafted especially for kids aged three and up. As she embarks on this new journey, Brandy shows it’s never too late to pursue your dreams!

The Spark Behind The Business
Now lets get down to business, you ask and Brandy answers!
1) What is the origin of The Calico Bunny? My favorite animal has always been the bunny, and it was my husband Gene who came up with the name "Calico."
2) What inspired the creation of plaster kits? I came across a video of another mom crafting plaster figurines, and it looked like such a fun activity!
3) What is your favorite part of the process: pouring, demolding, sanding, or sealing? Personally, I find demolding to be the most thrilling. There's something exhilarating about witnessing the final reveal of a creation that I brought to life.
4) What does it feel like to witness something you've poured your heart into bringing a family together around the kitchen table? I believe it's essential for families to connect creatively. It is a true blessing to play a role in fostering that connection for our customers.
5) Your slogan, "Made by Nana, Loved by Moms," is quite charming. How did it come about? It was actually my daughter-in-law, Aspen, who came up with it. The moment she mentioned it, I knew it was perfect!
6) What are some of the cherished memories you hold dear with your children as they grew up? One of my favorites is the vibrant sidewalk chalk art they created during those hot summer days. I would look down and smile at their colorful creations, a true reflection of their imagination.

Introducing Aspen, the dynamic voice behind social media and public relations for The Calico Bunny. As Brandy's daughter-in-law and married to her eldest son, Denver, Aspen often finds herself the punchline of Colorado jokes. Together, they joyfully welcomed their adorable son in early 2026.
With a Certificate of Mastery in Early Childhood Education and over a decade of experience in childcare and ABA therapy, Aspen possesses a profound understanding of what keeps young minds engaged, happy, and eager to learn. Transitioning to life as a full-time stay-at-home mom has given her invaluable insights into the daily realities of "mom life" and what parents truly seek in enriching activities.
Today, Aspen passionately combines her expertise in early childhood development with her creative flair to manage our online community, promote Brandy's kits, and connect with fellow moms who deserve a well-earned break while their kids explore their creativity! Whether she’s showcasing sensory play or sharing her son’s favorite new shapes, Aspen loves helping families forge lasting memories together. Her ultimate goal is to provide easy, practical sensory tips that make crafting enjoyable, developmental, and engaging for little ones.
